Wine merchant Vila Viniteca is conquering the world from the Iberian Peninsula. Founder Quím Vila and co-managing director Francisco Martí are enriching the world of wine with a lovingly curated selection of wines, with a focus on Spain. In 2008, they launched the Premio Vila Viniteca de Cata por Parejas, a now-annual blind tasting competition for pairs, which alternates between Barcelona and Madrid. Cata por Parejas quickly became one of the most sought-after and demanding wine tasting competitions in Europe – and around the world. Places for the ‘Olympics of wine tasting’ always sell out within minutes, and the winning couple can look forward not only to fame and recognition but also an attractive cash prize.

Founded in Barcelona in 1932, Vila Viniteca has grown to become one of the leading importers and distributors of premium wines, spirits and gourmet products throughout Europe. The innovative wine merchant is now run by the third generation of the family.

In 2008, the company launched the internationally renowned Premio Vila Viniteca de Cata por Parejas blind tasting competition for pairs. In addition to wine shops in Barcelona and a meeting centre in Madrid – where wine professionals and enthusiasts can sample a selection of around 11,000 Spanish and international wines – and a strong national sales team, Vila Viniteca also operates its own vineyards at three estates in Catalonia, Rueda and Madrid. Its gastronomic offering is no less impressive, with more than 400 mature cheeses, the finest hams and exclusive preserves and other gourmet products from around the globe.
