Since its founding in 1989, the Kerschbaum winery in Horitschon has been known for its uncompromising quality and passion for Blaufränkisch.

Tradition meets modern spirit

Located in the heart of sunny Burgenland, the Kerschbaum winery is one of the pioneers of Austrian Blaufränkisch. Founded by Paul Kerschbaum in the late 1980s with just three hectares, it has grown to a considerable size of 40 hectares in the last three decades. Now his son Michael runs the business with passion whilst combining tradition with modern precision. Signature wines such as Blaufränkisch, Riede Dürrau and the Cuvée Impresario, composed of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, stand for powerful elegance and great aging potential.

With his newest special edition the Blaufränkisch "X", 2015, Michael Kerschbaum launched his most personal project so far. Introduced to the market in October 2025, the "X" makes the enjoyment of true maturity in red wines accessible.

Kerschbaum winery

Since its founding in 1989, the Kerschbaum winery in Horitschon has grown rapidly from three to nearly 40 hectares. Founder Paul Kerschbaum focused on Blaufränkisch early on and is considered a pioneer in this area. Today, his son Michael Kerschbaum together with his young family, and a dedicated team run the winery. Father and son share a close, respectful relationship to this date. Their guiding principle has always been to make wines accessible to everyone without compromising on quality and simultaneously respecting nature. This philosophy is reflected in the taste of the wines and has already earned the winery numerous awards.
