Carnuntum is a paradise for cyclists, especially those who take it really seriously and want to cover a lot of kilometers. On June 13, the three winemakers Johanna Markowitsch, Philipp Grassl, and Lukas Brandstätter are organizing a bike tour through the region, which of course includes wine tastings.

Three wineries are organizing a very special, ambitious cycling event on Saturday, June 13. The meeting point is at Bruck/Leitha train station at 9 a.m. The welcoming committee consists of Johanna Markowitsch, Philipp Grassl and Lukas Brandstätter (Weingut Dorli Muhr).

First, the tour will head to Göttlesbrunn and Schüttenberg, followed by a wine tasting with Philipp Grassl and a snack of scrambled eggs at Adi Bittermann. The tour will then continue to Rosenberg (Markowitsch wines), before heading to Prellenkirchen for lunch at the Dorli Muhr Winery and then on to Spitzerberg for another tasting.

From there, the route continues via Potzneusiedl, briefly along the Leitha River, and finally to Gattendorf train station to catch a train to Vienna at 5:30 p.m.

The entire route is approximately 60 kilometers long and can be cycled on road bikes (with one exception of 300 meters).

About Weingut Dorli Muhr

Dorli Muhr, who for three decades has led the internationally renowned agency Wine+Partners, founded her own estate in 2002. The heart of the estate is a 0.17 hectare parcel that her grandmother received as a wedding gift in 1918. Plot by plot, Dorli Muhr has acquired sites on the Spitzerberg with notably mature Blaufränkisch vines. She transitioned her vineyards to organic and founded a new, extra-gentle vinification method to encourage the finest, most elegant expressions of the Blaufränkisch variety. In 2019, the Spitzerberg received its Erste Lage classification by the Österreichische Traditionsweingüter.
