All the top wines in a single weekend
The finest wines always grow in extraordinary vineyards – that is an experience that all winegrowers have in common. Out of this fact of life, the Österreichische Traditionsweingüter have developed a system of classification: at present, eighty-nine vineyards have been defined as Erste Lage sites – ‘first growth’ or ‘premier cru’. Wines from these vineyards must be matured for a longer period of time before they can be released to the market. For white wines, the release date is the beginning of September in the year following the harvest. For the reds, one has to wait an additional twelve months.
And so: the first weekend in September is the perfect time for wine lovers to have an opportunity to taste the Erste Lage wines – and many others – at all of the ÖTW member estates in Traisental, Kremstal, Kamptal, Wagram, Wien/Vienna & Carnuntum.
To join the Erste Lage Tour de Vin you will need a Tour de Vin button, which is available for 25€ at all member estates. This badge provides for admission and tasting on 5–6 September from 10.00–18.00 at any of the sixty-eight member estates.
