In harmony with nature – many say this, but few are as uncompromisingly serious in this regard as Johannes Hirsch & Herbert Zillinger. They come from two of Austria’s top regions for white wine (Kamptal & Weinviertel) and are among the most experienced biodynamic producers in all of Austria. One thing that both men share is a virtually obsessive focus on the vineyards: healthy soils, diversity in flora & fauna, old grapevines, daily care of the vineyard parcels, sensitivity in choosing the appropriate harvest time. Together this means Grüner Veltliners & Rieslings with cool-climate freshness, remarkable complexity & distinctive character. Johannes Hirsch and Herbert Zillinger have always been regarded as mavericks, men who got away from the viticultural conventions of their respective regions quite early on. This is precisely why they have since become role models for many. The two show, each in his own way, how complex & elegant wines can be.

Herbert & Carmen Zillinger are the masters of Grüner Veltliner. Their wines are strikingly powerful personalities, authentic & unembellished. Zillinger is a guarantee for a puristic and absolutely unadorned style of wine. Johannes & Sandra Hirsch manage to bring wines into the bottle that show a lot of dynamic tension and the special crystalline grandeur that characterises fine Kamptal wines.
