Single Vineyard Summit 2025: All you need to know

by Catherine Walbridge
ÖTW SVS 2024

Austria's historic Grafenegg castle park will again play host to the country's most prestigious wine tasting in September 2025 - the Single Vineyard Summit. Organised by the 90-member winery group, Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW), the annual summit offers a five-day platform for professionals to taste the best site-specific Austrian wines.

This year the summit will be held from 8-12 September at the Grafenegg Auditorium in Lower Austria, less than a hour's travel time from Vienna.

First in, first served

Dozens of premium producers from Austria’s key wine regions converge on Grafenegg to personally present their wines – before they reach the market. This is a once-in-a-year opportunity to discover the singular characteristics of site-specific wines from the ÖTW members and guest regions, which cover Austria's most renowned appellations.

500+ single vineyard wines

The Single Vineyard Summit was founded by the ÖTW, with the wines from 120 Erste Lage (Premier Cru) of the ÖTW regions forming the centrepiece of the event:

  • Kamptal

  • Kremstal

  • Traisental

  • Wagram

  • Wien (Vienna)

  • Carnuntum

  • Thermenregion

  • Weinviertel (premiere of Erste Lage whites)

  • Guest regions at the Single Vineyard Summit are the Eisenberg and Leithaberg regions, the Styrian STK winery group and Vinea Wachau.

Personalised for professionals

One of the summit's distinguishing features is that is is tailored to wine professionals, from journalists and sommeliers to importers and retailers.

There are two pre-booked tasting slots each day, at 9 am and 2 pm., with the exception of Monday 8 September, when there is just a 2pm afternoon slot. After registering, each participant can decide which wines they would like to taste and in what order by writing the desired sample numbers on a ticket. The winemakers themselves usually then bring the wines and present them at each place.

The format is a so-called ‘silent tasting’, with access to allocated seating only permitted at the beginning, to ensure everyone can get the most out of each session.

The Single Vineyard Summit has a proven recipe for success: an efficient format for professionals to taste more than 500 single vineyard wines in a picturesque location with an extensive supporting programme of events and dinners.

About Österreichische Traditionsweingüter

The winegrowers association was founded in 1991 as a consortium between the Danube regions of Kamptal and Kremstal. 17 estates took part in a pilot project whose stated goal was the classification of Austrian vineyards. Over time, this grew to the current level of 90 members. The ÖTW sees the ÖTW.classification as a tool to provide wine aficionados with a clearer system for orientation and appreciation of appellations and sites.
