A new path: GOLS Cuvée Paul Achs

One of Austria’s most outstanding red wine producers, Paul Achs winery, is launching a new village wine from the 2023 vintage on the market. The name, GOLS Cuvée Paul Achs, will now be on the label – a clear commitment to the estate's origins and philosophy.

Our family has been cultivating vineyards around the village of Gols for many generations. This heritage is both a responsibility and a driving force for us.

The new cuvée comes from the best vineyards around Gols in Austria’s Neusiedlersee region and demonstrates the characteristics of the winery today: origin, depth and precision.

The new village wine also marks the end of an important chapter: the 2022 vintage is the last Pannobile wine to be produced by the Paul Achs winery.

“The decision to leave the group was not an easy one for us as we are on friendly terms with all the members. It has matured over a long period of time and ultimately resulted in different orientations within the group,” explains Paul Achs. But he emphasises: “The collaboration in the Pannobile group has been characterised by great mutual respect and a strong common idea for decades. We have achieved a lot together and helped shape the style of the region over many years – I am very grateful for that.”

Today, the focus of the winery is more than ever on the origin and expression of the vineyards. The vineyards, which have been cultivated for generations, take centre stage – as does a style that combines clarity, structure, longevity and elegance.

Vintage presentation

The new village wine GOLS Cuvée Paul Achs 2023 will be presented to the public for the first time on 6 September 2025 during the vintage presentation. The event, which is traditionally held on the first weekend in September, offers the opportunity to taste and purchase the entire range on site at the Paul Achs winery.

About Paul Achs winery

Viticulture has characterised the work of the Achs family since 1684. Paul Achs Junior, born in 1968, has been running the family business with dedication since 1990, expanding it from 12 to 25 hectares. Under his leadership, the winery, which once focussed on white wine, has become one of Austria's most renowned red wine producers. A sense for the planting the right vines in the right soil is deeply rooted in the Achs family’s expertise. The vines planted by Paul Achs' grandfather still produce expressive wines today.

About Pannobile

The Pannobile group was founded in 1994 by nine winemakers from Burgenland to promote the independence and quality of wines from the Neusiedlersee region. Their focus has been, and still is, on sustainable viticulture and terroir-influenced wines made from local grape varieties such as Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Chardonnay. In recent years, most wineries in the group have developed in the direction of natural, which Paul Achs has not joined.
