A tasting that will probably not happen again so soon: The Rheingau winery Geheimrat J. Wegeler is showcasing no less than six decades of its two most important wines in a vertical tasting: Geheimrat J. and Doctor. The winery, which was a Pinonier for great dry Rieslings in Germany almost 40 years ago, is thus bringing out a few very special bottles from its own treasure trove. Jumping through the decades of Doctor Auslese (76, 85, 90, 97, 02, 19, 21) and Geheimrat J (85, 90, 96, 01, 05, 12, 20), one can experience firsthand the enormous drinking and storage potential of these wines.
With the 2021s, Managing Director Richard Grosche also has the first Doctor Kabinett in 20 years in the pastry. The extremely rare 2005 Doctor Trockenbeerenauslese (only 155 liters of total production!) then forms the brilliant conclusion of this extraordinary tasting. The event is exclusively for sommeliers. Seats are limited.
