"The present needs a past to shape the future." The Österreichische Traditionsweingüter have remained true to this motto since their foundation.

In 1991, ten wineries joined forces with a shared vision of classifying the best single vineyard sites in Austria. More than three decades later, the association has grown to 90 members with 120 ÖTW Erste Lage (Premier Cru) sites in the wine regions of Kamptal, Kremstal, Traisental, Wagram, Vienna, Carnuntum, Thermenregion and Weinviertel, and the ÖTW vineyard classification was enshrined in law in autumn 2023. This is major milestone as it means Austria is the only country apart from France in which the classification of vineyards is written into law.

Wine+Partners has accompanied the Österreichische Traditionsweingüter since their inception and has been significantly involved in the conception, organisation and implementation of the ÖTW Single Vineyard Summit. Austria's most demanding wine tasting event attracts an international audience of experts to Grafenegg every September. For five days, ÖTW Erste Lage are presented for tasting before they are released on the market.

Dorli Muhr
Owner & Managing Director

She has dined in the finest restaurants, but her heart belongs to simple things in life. Her favorite dish? Sourdough bread with butter, chives, and a pinch of salt. From her father, she learned to recognize what is good, valuable, and pure — a lesson that shaped her deeply. Dorli always thinks big, looks far into the future, connects people, and empowers women. Her guiding principle from 1991, the founding year of the agency, still holds true today: "By communicating about good and valuable people, companies, and products, we contribute to a better world.". That is exactly what our clients appreciate so much about her: the positive energy, the bubbling creativity, and the remarkable expertise from which truly unique solutions emerge.

About Österreichische Traditionsweingüter

The winegrowers association was founded in 1991 as a consortium between the Danube regions of Kamptal and Kremstal. 17 estates took part in a pilot project whose stated goal was the classification of Austrian vineyards. Over time, this grew to the current level of 90 members. The ÖTW sees the ÖTW.classification as a tool to provide wine aficionados with a clearer system for orientation and appreciation of appellations and sites.
