22 Winemakers, One Vision

by Dorli Muhr

Highest quality, professionalism and enjoying life to the fullest are of top priority in the Portugal's breathtaking Douro Valley. That's why 22 of the leading winegrowers have come together to pursue one common goal: to convey the vast potential of their wine region to the world. And what better way is there than to invite wine professionals from around the globe to see for themselves?

The Douro Primeira Prova 2022 tasting (3-5 May, Régua in Portugal) offers wine experts the chance to taste the latest vintages en primeur. After its phenomenal first run in 2019, the winemakers decided to collect their wines once again to showcase them to a professional audience.

In midst of the steep scenic terraces, one can experience the pure magic of the Douro whilst tasting the best wines, the valley has to offer. But who are those ambitious winemakers? Let us introduce the first part of the group to you...

But these are by far not all producers of the group! Don't miss the chance - secure your spot at the three-day tasting in the center of the Douro Valley and get to know the local winemakers personally:

When registering, please provide your name, company, email address, telephone number and the preferred day on which you would like to participate.

Also stay tuned with our WINE+PARTNERS newsletter to find out everything about the other members!

About The new Douro

To explain the history of THE NEW DOURO, one must first take a look backward into the story of ‘The Old Douro’. Port wine has been produced for more than 300 years, but the production of still wines by comparison has only been a major factor since the end of World War II. A group of wine producers, working under the title THE NEW DOURO, came together in 2004 under Paul Symington, Dirk Niepoort, and Cristiano Van Zeller, with the goal of promoting still wines from Douro.
