INFO BOARD

by Dorli Muhr

Olá! Good to see you here & welcome to the Douro Primeira Prova Info-Board! You will receive all the important informations here when it comes to our tasting and the side events from the 5th until the 7th of July.

Tasting

The wines will be tasted in a silent tasting format (the name says it all: in a silent and focused manner). The exact procedure will be explained at the event itself. Please come 15 minutes earlier to your slot(s) as we have to check your negative COVID-tests beforehand at the registration desk.

Wines

Do you want to look at all the wines that we serve, arrange their order as you like and take your notes on your computer? Here we go... [maxbutton id="116"] Our environment is holy to us that’s why we quit paper when possible during the event. Please download your wine list to your device. You can directly take your notes in there. Lunch There will be lunch at the Museu from 12.00-14.00. Vegetarian options are available.[:]

Individual dinners

After the lectures on Monday and Tuesday, there will be small dinner parties at the different Quintas of The New Douro-members. If you want to join a dinner, please make sure to be at the raffle at 13.00 o’clock that day. There we will draw by lot who will have dinner where. Couples & groups will be paired at one dinner of course. The representatives of each Quinta will pick you up from Museu do Douro, take you to dinner and afterwards bring you back again – full service, as you can see! :-) Please keep in mind: There is no time to go back to the hotel between the afternoon tasting, the lecture and the individual dinner parties. On Wednesday there are no dinners planned.

COVID-19-measures

If you’ve recovered or already vaccinated, please send us the confirmation by mail to speed up the process. But nevertheless we want to guarantee the highest possible safety to all our guests, therefore please make sure you are tested beforehand, so you can show us the testing report at the registration desk. Important contacts and addresses If you have any questions relating the tasting of Douro Primeira Prova or the frame program, please get in touch with Isabella (Wine+Partners). What is the secret behind this diversity? -Port: Cristiano van Zeller (Van Zellers & Co) -Reds: Manuel Lobo (Quinta do Crasto) -White: André Barbosa (Poças: also with a focus on orange wines) -Sparkling: Celso Perreira (Vértice) TUESDAY LECTURE | The Future of The Douro – (a sneak preview) Currently, the wine-growing area of the Douro Valley is divided into three sub-regions. About The new Douro

To explain the history of THE NEW DOURO, one must first take a look backward into the story of ‘The Old Douro’. Port wine has been produced for more than 300 years, but the production of still wines by comparison has only been a major factor since the end of World War II. A group of wine producers, working under the title THE NEW DOURO, came together in 2004 under Paul Symington, Dirk Niepoort, and Cristiano Van Zeller, with the goal of promoting still wines from Douro.
